New Christmas mini catalogue

Great news!!!!!!

There is a new mini catalogue stuffed full of Christmas and winter themed goodies, that you can order from 6th September.

One of the big advantages of being a Stampin'Up! demonstrator is that I get to place a preorder before new products are available for customers to order. The early access idea is obviously so we can make samples to show everyone so that customers can really see the products and know what they want to order on the release date.

I think one of the surprising points of being a demo for me was that I have made so many friends through SU - both other demos and customers. Crafting together is a fantastic way of connecting with people all over the world and we do this because we are simply enjoying what we do and love sharing it with others.

We also get discount! This starts from the outset! You can build your own starter kit by selecting £130 of products for only £99 (includes shipping). Thats a great offer!

If you would like more info on the perks of joining up, please contact me. I'll be there to hold your hand, if needed, every step of the way. You can be your own best customer or start a new business venture. There is no pressure and if it doesn't work for you, no problem; you can just return to being one of my customers again. You can shop online with me and/or join my team if you live in UK,  Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium.

Bookmark card

Hello everyone,

Do you have friends who enjoy settling down with a good book? Or even Grandchildren who are into reading? Well, today, I am sharing a card with  a little corner decoration that lifts off and can be used as a pretty book mark - a card and a little gift in one.

Its very quick to make and you could have a little stash ready with "Just for you" or something that is always appropriate.

Dimensions:

Base: 4 1/8 x 5 1/2 inches                 10.5 x 14 cms

DSP    3 7/8 x 5 1/4                           10 x 13.5

Top card

Base:    3 3/8 x 4 1/4                          8.5 x11.2

white card: 6 1/4 x 4 1/4                    16 x 10.8            score in half along long side

bookmark DSP     5 x 5                      12.5 x 12.5

circles 2 5/8, 2 3/8                              6.5, 6

scrap ribbon

1.    Adhere DSP to base. Score white  card in  half and adher to top base layer .

2.    Adhere top card on centre of base

3.    fold 5" square in quarters. fold over one corner as shown in video and cut off the opposite quarter. fold to form pocket and stick together enclosing scrap of ribbon to act as pull to remove bookmark..

4.    Layer Daisy decoration, add yellow to daisy centre with dauber and stick on smaller circle with any leaves. place and glue on folded aquare.

5.    Slip corner element over right corner of top card and find pleasing place for larger circle. Glue larger circle gently onto card and only add pressure when in right place.

6.     Stamp sentiment and die cut. Add strip DSP for contrast plus any other embellishments.

Simples!

I made mine with retired papers and stamps - this idea will work with many different DSP and stamp sets - why not give it a go?

As always, please leave me kind words below if you try this project. Will suit so many different designs of paper, so happy craftiung everyone.

If you would like to order supplies and don't have a SU demo, I would love to help you.

Stepped, fold-back card with Cheerful Daisies

Good Morning,

Today, I have another fancy-fold card to share. I have such a weakness for "different" cards and am always looking for a new shape or fold to try. This particular style was shared in one of my Stampin'Up! Team meetings and it is really versatile. I don't know the original designer but I will gladly credit them if they message me privately to let me know.

Cutting List - metric
Base – 20.5 x 15cm   scored 10.5 / 15.5 on long side. Fold in half (almost) and then turn back the front of the base to make a Z shape. Burnish folds well.
Cut strips of coloured card 3 cm wide to make 5 steps
6.5 / 7.5 / 8.5 / 9.5 / 10.5 cms
DSP to mat steps – all cut at 0.5 cm smaller than card – 2.5 wide by 6 / 7/ 8/ 9/ 10 cms. Use scraps ot the rest of the A4 card.

Make the card first, before adding DSP
1.         Starting with the longest strip, lay across the folded back section of the card base and apply glue to the base only not the strip or you will glue the card shut! I applied wet glue to the whole of the folded back section of the card to have a little wiggle-time - if you do this you will need to work quickly.
2.         Line up the left hand edge of the steps as in the finished card. Make sure the steps are straight and no glue seeps out.
3.         Check all the edges of the base line up and trim if needed before adding DSP
4.         Open the card base, if desired add a strip of DSP to left inside edge to neaten. I cut a strip 4.5 cm x whole sheet (30cms) and trimmed to 14.5. I used the left overs to add inside right edge
5.         Cut piece basic white 14.5 x 10 to line inside right of card.  I have tried using the whole left-over strip and also cutting at an angle to mirror the front – decide which style you prefer before stamping– the angled strip gives you more room to stamp and write. Stamp before adhering to base, taking account of the DSP.
6.         Add DSP to stepped strips on the front of card and decorate with die cuts and stamped images.
This might sound involved but once you have made one, it is fairly straightforward. I always find that choosing my papers is the hardest part as they are all so lovely and cutting into them can be challenging!

It was definitely easier to work in metric as it fits a standard UK C6 envelope. If your card is a little bulky just go up a size to 5x7.

Cutting list - Imperial
Base – 6 x 8 , score at 2,4, along long side
cut 6 strips of card 1” wide for front and cut 4, 3 ¾, 3 ½, 3 ¼, 3, 2 3/4
DSP to ¾” wide  x 3 ¾, 3 ½, 3 ¼, 3 2 ¾, 2 ½
inside left and right strips DSP 13/4 wide x 5 ¾
inside right cut diagonally if desired as metric
Basic white liner 5 ¾ x 3 3/4

Here is the same style card made with two other  Designer Series Papers. Those  sadly are discontinued  but you can see how well it works with other papers.

In my craft room, I am having a big destash by using up some of the papers I’ve been so frugal with. Then I can legitimately buy lots more in the DSP event – right?

Don’t shout at me but we will soon be hearing “Christmas in July” etc.  I’m not quite ready for that but I am ready to make little gifts, thank you presents, teacher appreciation gifts and just small Happy Mail and RAK for my friends and neighbours.

I found several small notepads in my stash that I’ve had since I used to run a local craft fayre and so I’ve cased my own makes using SU papers.

In the video, I explain how to calculate dimensions to make a cover for any size paper pad.

Here are the three I showed in the video but please check the size of your pads before you start and leave a little extra room in the spine for the extra thickness of card in the pockets.

1. small jotter with black card and  Zoo Crew DSP

  • cut card 7 1/2" x 5 3/4" or 5 1/2 US ( 14.5 x 19 cms)
  • score long side at 3 1/2, 4 (9,10 cms)
  • turn score short side 4 1/8 (10.5cms)
2. A6 tablet covered with Starry Sky card and Fancy Flora DSP
  • cut card 9 x 8 1/4 (US 8 1/2) (22.7cms x A4 width )
  • score long side 4 3/8, 4 5/8 ( 11, 11.7cms)
  • turn and score short side 6 1/8" ( 15.5cms)
3. Shopping list pads covered in Garden Green card and Fresh as a Daisy DSP

  •  cut card 6 1/4 x A4 or US letter (15.5 cms x A4)
  • score short side at 3, 3 1.4 (7.5, 8cms)
  • turn and score short side at 81/2" (21.5cms)
See the video on YT to show you how I made them . Please like and subscribe to me on socials.

I would love to know if you try this simple method of making a covered notepad and how successful you are/ have been at busting your stash of DSP.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to use that DSP!

See you soon,

Dancing hippo

 Good afternoon,

We are enjoying absolutely beautiful weather here in the UK and we have a Bank Holiday weekend too! Let’s hope it stays this way as we are actually away with our caravan on a rally in Lincolnshire.

Here is a card I hadn’t intended to post until we got back home but it will be too late to enter it for the Global Design Project. It’s a fun double slider card with a twist; both sides pull out as usual and as if by magic the dancing hippo floats gracefully across the stage. ❤️

All images are copyright Stampin’Up!

For this project I used the fab Zoo Crew Suite by StampinUp! #161319. The tiger ballerina image was die cut from the DSP and the others fussy cut. All the curtains s, tie-backs and ballon’s are from the suite too. I used the stylish shapes dies  to cut the banner and 1 u/8” ouch to make the pull out handles.
I love the Lost Lagoon cardstock. So pretty when teamed with the pastel pink , crumb cake and black. Lost lagoon ink for stamping coordinates perfectly 🩵

Hope you all have a creative weekend

See you back here soon,

Lesley x

This little Piggy.....

 Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by. My card today is the cutest mix of old and new; an old, retired Stampin'Up! stamp that is no longer in the present catalogue so only available second-hand, and a brand new 6 x6 DSP called Bright and Beautiful which is in the new Annual catalogue (#161449).

I made the card for our niece who is crazy about all things Piggy. In a recent tidying of the craft room (sharp intake of breath, here) I rediscovered a handful of centre stepper card bases that I had made ages ago - result - just right for a piggy. That would have been a bit bland for this character so I added a topper element. I've hand-drawn a template from my own bases. If you're in the US, your card will be shorter at 11" so please use the extra sizes on the far right and the full length of your card.

I love the new DSP - it's just right for any kind of celebration and they suit this card so well. The 6x6 packs have 48 sheets so plenty of fun ahead. you might see lots more cards using these papers with the new in-colours - lemon lime twist / pretty peacock / azure afternoon / blueberry bushel / berry burst / bubble bath.

If you need lots of co-ordinating cardstock, SU do a mixed pack of 20 A4 sheets so you can try them all out with minimal outlay - such a great idea! (see product list below)

Thanks so much for joining me again today.

Musical Theatre

 Woohoo!

At last the new StampinUp! Annual Catalogue is live and I can take orders for the wonderful new products and fresh colours.

Here is a theatre card I made with new Zoo Crew Suite. As soon as I saw the pictures of the suite online, I knew I wanted to try this style of card and it was so right. When I make a purchase, I want to know I can really get full use out of every bit - with this suite

*the DSP has cute animals on one side - these are themed - music, hobbies, dancing, party, outdoors, wheels.

*Each of the papers has a different back-side which is black and white so no scrap gets wasted. Double winner there!

*The animals themselves are mainly line-drawings with a pop of colour so you can leave them or colour in. The coloured parts go with old and new colours **** - petal pink / pumpkin pie /lemon-lime twist - returning new colour / pool party / crumb cake / basic black

*they are cute but not tooo cute so they work for young people and young at heart too!

*the animals can be easily fussy cut or even better - there are outline dies to cut out many of them ***

*the stamp set includes 6 animals, 3 sentiments and cute music notes and party stars. I made my own background with the music notes ** They are sized to fit the dies*, great sentimentsin nice font*. I love that I can make these animals in any colour in case i run out of the ones that match the papers.

*the dies include  trees, cloud, flowers, balloons, flag label, plus the curtains and tie-backs to make the stage setting too.

*ooh, nearly forgot!- The suite comes with 2 colours of narrow ribbon (petal pink and lemon/lime) so I don't have to buy any extras for the time being - there is always so much new stuff that I have to be a bit mindful of the budget and not overspend!!!!! We all have a budget!

So when I buy something new, I like to have 3 stars or uses for products or suites - I got to at least eight without even scratching myhead - so I got it!!!

Can you tell, I love it! Maybe.

I haven't made a video to show the construction of the card but if you search Theatre card there are lots on YouTube.

Thanks so much for joining me again today.

Pop-up Diamond card

Happy Easter, everyone! Today's inspiration is a pop-up diamond card. This is very straightforward to make, and I think it was one of ...
