There are
times when you want to give a neighbour or friend a little something without
going over the top. Something that’s handmade means so much more and if teamed
with chocolate, it’s a winner!
I had some messages that some of you would like to see how I made this little gift after I posted pics on Instagram.
I had some messages that some of you would like to see how I made this little gift after I posted pics on Instagram.
This little
gift box, that’s sized to fit a bar of chocolate, can be as simple or ornate as
you make it. I made this one from scraps of design paper and flowers, left-over
after making other projects. It's definitely the kind of project that is worth keeping with your stash in case of emergency.
Here’s
how
You will
need:
1 sheet A4 card 300gsm (110 lbs)
scraps or 2 A4 sheets designer paper
16 inches or 40cm ribbon
embellishments: 3 foam or paper flowers, leaves, butterfly
2 decorative fan-shaped dies and
their mats
Tag die for writing sentiment/greeting
inside
Place the A4
card longwise across score board and score at 3 ¼”, 4, 7 ¼, 8, mark at 10” and
trim here, keep off-cut. (8cm,10,18,
20 mark and trim at 25)
From the
waste strip (approx. 1 ¾ wide (4cm) ) cut 2 pieces 2” (5cm) long. Place narrow side across score board and
score 2 lines centrally 3/4” apart (2cm) to make 2 side gussets.
Fold and
burnish score lines
Check the
pieces fit but don’t glue yet!
Cut designer
paper to fit all sides, leaving narrow edge visible. Stick gusset along back
of box at top and bottom edges, leaving front open so it is easy to add paper
to inside.
Ink edges of
paper with vintage photo brown, black or pretty contrasting colour. This will
then hide the fact that they are scraps. Adhere inside paper to box. Fold over
gusset and glue to top. Hold in place for minute or 2 until it sticks. Adhere ribbon to centre of top and bottom outside of
box before covering with papers. Add paper to all other sides and tag inside cover
to write on.
To decorate adhere
dies, leaves, flowers and butterfly on front. A hot glue gun makes this job easier.
Products I
used:
HFC Sweet peony papers, large/ medium
flower dies
HFC 3D leafy accents stamps, dies,
stamens
HFC Decorative fan medallion and mat
HFC Tag
Lisa Horton Butterfly stamped on
white vellum, decoupaged and glittered
